Kris Van Stralen offers exceptional capital markets experiences from participating in 30 years of individual and institutional investments. His knowledge base includes finance, monetary economics, equities, fixed income, equity options, hedge funds, venture capital, mutual funds and ETFs.
Prior to founding Evidencial Financial Consulting in 2018, Kris was a financial advisor with VR Advisors in Lafayette, CA. Before that, Kris was a Managing Director at Janney Montgomery Capital Markets in the Institutional Equity Division starting in 2008. Kris served as the Senior Research Representative covering Institutional Equity Managers in the Western United States and led the establishment of their West Coast institutional office. Before this, Kris was Principal at The Royal Bank of Canada, elected Managing Director in 2001.
Mr. Van Stralen earned the Chartered Financial Consultant, ChFC® designation in 2016, enabling him to advise clients on a myriad of topics. Kris has taken nine or more college-level courses on all aspects of financial planning: Investments, Taxation, Estate Planning, Retirement Planning, Risk Management and Financial Planning Application for families with special needs dependents, small business planning, financial planning for clients in the LGBT community, financial planning for divorce, and individual financial planning. The average study time for the program is over 400 hours. Additionally, each ChFC must also complete a minimum of 30 hours of continuing education every two years, adhere to strict ethical standards and meet the extensive experience requirement.
Kris began his career in Institutional Equity Finance in 1987, with Drexel Burnham Lambert and worked with a variety of Wall Street financial firms. Kris graduated from the University of Arizona in 1982, with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree, majoring in Finance.
Outside the office, Kris enjoys spending time with his family, attending their sporting events, windsurfing, kitesurfing, scuba, and reading science and non-fiction books.
